My cats are brothers. They like to snuggle with each other, clean each other and the majority of the time they are inseparable. I have noticed that one of my cats is over-grooming to the point where he is chewing off my other cat's whiskers.
Has anyone ever heard of this behavior and any ideas on how to stop this from happening?

pretty normal...you might get some THUMZ for kids who suck thier thumbs and apply i to the most licked spot and see what happens...

You had a post similar to this a couple months ago. What changes have taken place since then, and have you switched the diet again? Were the flea allergies ever eradicated? Did your vet determine any other allergies?

It was a flea allergy and the vet had to use a different kind of cortizone shot. He is not itching anymore but the hair on his bottom is taking a long time to grow back, which is another concern of mine. He is back to his normal self other than his whiskers and the hair regrowth. I've noticed the whiskers start to grow back, but then it's as if he's had a whisker trim. I have seen my other cat groom him and kind of chew on his whiskers. They are both inside cats, but it still concerns me because he needs his whiskers. Plus, he just looks really goofy.
Also, while I'm on the subject. Do you know why his hair wouldn't be growing back? The last time it grew back in no time. This time there seems to be not so much regrowth and his skin is really dry where the hair is missing. Could this now be a fungus of some sort?

Exactly where on the bottom, near the anal area? If so, this is one area that wil take some time for the fur to grow back. Also, if the vet shaved the fur for any reason, that can take time as well. If your kitty is scooting on the floor, has had recent diarrhea, etc, this can prohibit fur growth to some extent. I don't think I would worry about the fur growth, unless other signs of illness develop.
While a full face of whiskers is ideal, it won't hurt kitty to have a few of them missing....cats will generally lose a whisker or two each month or so due to grooming or other causes. If kitty's skin and coat condition is otherwise shiny and sleek, probably nothing to worry about. If however, the coat is dry, dull, no shine or matted, then you could try adding fatty acids to the diet (i.e., Linatone, available at your vet or pet store)
