Mommy is getting discouraged
Biscotti has a reoccurrance of the pseudomona in her ear. She will NOT let us clean her ears. We can usually get meds in while she is in sleepy mode, and they are feeling better, but this dog goes into hysterics if we try to clean them. I know it must hurt terribly. She was in hysterics at the Vet's last week-peed all over, drooled all over, acting frantic, all while muzzled. Vet doesn't believe us when we say she is the sweetest, in your face, lap dog. I am wondering if we will be able to clear this up.....I know it is stubborn and dangerous....
If it has come to this, I would suggest letting your vet take care of this, he can lightly sedate her in order to clean and examine the ear again.
You know what they say about compliance, if the owner just can't handle the pet at home, it's best to leave it to your vet, otherwise, treatment is either spradic, or ceased altogether, defeating the purpose.

He did say that next time she may have to be sedated
and that is OK by me. What bothers me is that we are supposed to be cleaning her ears every other day, and we can't do it. We can get the meds in, though. I just wonder if it will ever clear up, and I don't want to ask the next question...
Take her back in and ask if you can observe the vet and tech during restraint, this way, you and hubby at home can learn how to restrain her without stressing her too much. I noted your comment about how she reacted at the vet, and while it is true that pets are different in the home, a vet visit can be difficult, and given the condition, it's not going to be easy on her. But, at least try to get a restraint method going so that she identifies you as her care provider rather than her 'torturer', if you know what I mean. I know it hurts like hell, but that treatment has to be carried out, or its going to take that much longer to heal.

That is good insight
Both hubby and I have helped restrain her at the Vet's, and know the principles. Maybe we are not working together..tomorrow is a new day, and biscotti, here we come! because we love you'!
PS It took 3 techs and my28 yr old son (former Marine)
to hold her down.

one thing you mihgt do is to saturate a piece or a:
pledget (sp) of cotton and shove it down the ear canal real fast, then hope it stays,,,this will save having to hold the goof still while you dramaticaly put drops in and rub...if you get the cotton down fast enough and far enough it will stay long enought to get the medication on...it will eventually be shaken out but it will do some good...
