...healthy and happy (and missing their people, I know). Angel took moles as a very serious problem, and I know Roxy and her could be happily hunting critters. I just wish it didn't come with such pain for their people

Has she contacted the Sheriff's office or State Police (whichever they have up there). I know here in Florida, they have to take the report if there is a complaint (they don't, unfortunately, have to follow up on the complaint, but they usually do). If they won't take a report, they can at least tell her who is responsible.

If she truly wants to be an activist, she can call her congressman/woman and find out if there are any relevant state laws. She can call the consumer watch people for the local TV news or newspaper (or both). She can sue in small claims court (she won't get much, if anything, but she will get the attention of the person who did this and cause them aggravation, and possibly get a story in the newspaper to go along with it).

and I grieve for poor Angel and your mother in law. That woman should have to eat chicken dipped in antifreeze for dinner. I don't think I can even call her a woman, more like a devil. I wish your MIL all the best, and hope she is successful in her endeavors to prevent similar actions in the future.

Maybe a lot of good will come from this terrible tragedy. Will say a prayer for Angel and for your MOL and FOL. Now Angel is up there with my childhood cat - "Angel Puss" !

Mary, please extend my condolences to your MIL as well. My heart breaks for her and the Angel. Angel is with Roxy and with my little Chablis. From what I understand, dogs are attracted to anti-freeze even without the chicken thrown in! To have it happen deliberately is appalling and despicable.

May I offer my condolences too. .....

Another thought, putting out poisons indescriminantly is against federal law also. (I will have to look it up.) The law was made to stop farmers from putting out poisons for Coyotes and Wolves.

I looked it up. The Wildlife protection act only protects certain endangered species from poisoning. You can argue that the putting out of antifreeze with meat in it as a threat to local endangered species (Owls or Eagles or something.) either from pirmary or secondary poisoning. This may make her stop. Unfortunately the law does not protect "Pests, Vermin," or domestic animals that may get into the poison. A similar action is taking place in Colorodo right now with respect to the poisoning of Prarie dog colonies by ranchers.
