Hi All,
One of our two cats (they are sisters) loves to chew on plastic bags. We get home with groceries and she comes running and sticks her head in the bags or chews on them. We try to keep them out of her reach and keep most of our bags in a closet. This morning as I was scooping out their box, I found that one of her stools had a big piece of plastic in it. I am not sure where she got it from but she certainly ate some part of a bag as it was that color. Is eating plastic really bad for her? We were mostly keeping it away so she wouldn't get her head stuck in the bags.
Thanks,
Frank
Cat Eats Plastic
Re: Cat Eats Plastic
doesn't sound safe. make an effort to keep these items locked up and away.
for a smiliar texture/noise you can purchase items at a local pet shop that makes a "crinkle" sound and has soft fabric as the outer material, much safer. you might even get by with stuffing a sock full of these plastic bags and then securing the sock shut with a knot or two.

Re: Cat Eats Plastic
As soon as I get a plastic bag from the store I tie a knot in it. That way no matter what the cats can't get inside. It's just an extra safety measure. I then save them to put poop into after scooping the litter box. I tie them up as soon as I take the groceries out though. They can be dangerous if a cat gets their head stuck inside or ingests some. Isn't it weird the things they like to eat or chew on?
