We do plan on getting another Doberman. Shelby was our second one and we just couldn't imagine our lives without one.
You are most welcome, and I'm glad my pet loss pages were of some help to you.
I'm happy to hear you plan on getting another Dobe..they are great dogs, and I love them, even though I only had 1/2 a Dobe (Jingles.) Everyone is different when it comes to getting a new companion. Some are ready to do it right away, others need more time to grieve, it's an individual thing.
I always got another companion asap, but it was different the last time around. Dealing with Jingles lengthy battle with DM was exhausting, and then Jezebel's sudden illness (cancer) at the same time, and losing both of them within 6 weeks, took me a a little time to recover from...I was very tired. I wanted to adopt a GSD girl or mix of in my own area, and looked briefly after my girls were gone, but then decided to wait..I wasn't ready, and needed time for me for a change LOL.
I also figured my new companion would somehow find me, the way Jezzy and Jingles did, and that's what happened, the beginning of January (not spring as I hoped.) So much for looking forward to not freezing my butt off during the winter with potty trips and play time for the first time in 45+ years ROTFL. I'm sure my girls had a hand in sending Sasha my way. They did a good job, and she's a delight...no more "empty home."
Take good care of yourself, and good luck with your future Dobe!
