This is a very sad case--great dog, great owners who had no idea raisins could be a toxin. Please alert everyone you know who has a dog of this very serious risk. Poison control said as few as 7 raisins could be toxic. Many people I know give their dogs grapes or raisins as treats. Any exposure should give rise to immediate concern

the dog in this case ate a half containor of raisons and almost died..this was a bunch of raisons but if as few possibly 7 could cause a problem...i guess you eat the raisons and give the dog dog biscuits...not visa versa..

Thanks Davet! What is it in grapes that is toxic? I've heard this, and don't give any to Mr. Blue, but I never bothered to find out what it was that is so bad for dogs in them. It also seems, too, like they're not always toxic. My childhood dog used to love grapes, and she lived to age 14 or so.
