Hello,
My cat is 2 years old and she has always been a talker even when she was a kitten. Normally she would start meowling when we went to feed her or when we got home from work but now she meowls at 6am until approx. 7am or until we wake up! It's not a soft meowl either, it's very loud and constant. This is driving me and my husband crazy. I'm assuming that she is doing it for food because she is a little pig and loves to eat! And once we feed her she stops.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the meowling?
Any advice would be helful.
Thanks!
My cat won't stop meowling
Re: My cat won't stop meowling
might try feeding her the very very last thing at night to maybew break the pattern...also if it starts at exactly the same time in the morning it may be from a new sound, train whistle, factory whistle that has just started at that time....but i think it might be a good idea to do the very late night feeding to see if that will break the pattern.
Re: My cat won't stop meowling
That's what we are doing now. Before we used to feed her once in the morning and once in the evening and so we thought maybe she was too hungry by the time morning came. So we now feed her once in the morning, half portion in the evening and the other half right before bed. This seemed to make things worse for some reason. Now she meowls like crazy at night everytime you go close to the kitchen and in the morning.
Thanks anyways for your reply, I feel this may be a hopeless case.

Re: My cat won't stop meowling
have you tried roam feeding her? (let her decide when to eat, if she is capable)
Re: My cat won't stop meowling
No I haven't tried that but I'm sure that would work since the only time she meowls is when she wants food.
The only thing that concerns me about that is that she is a real piggy and already a little overweight.
My vet advised me to put her on a half wet food/half dry food diet and that seems to be helping her weight problem.
I think I will try your suggestion though.
Should I give her all dry or all wet? Or both still?
THANKS!!
