Dolly's not eating right
Dolly's not eating right
Her spay surgery was last Thursday, and she seems to be doing ok, but she's not eating much at all. I was going to call vet this morning but she was feeling real good and did eat about half her normal so I thought she was coming on out of it, but I keep her some dry in one bowl all the time and then give her canned twice a day, she acted hungry but barely nibbled at it and it was her very favorite. She is eating some but alot less than normal for her. Should I be concerned? I am having to keep her and kittens separated because of her stitches, I let her see them twice a day but she seems to be grieving, if this is possible. She seems to want me to hold her alot and will eat a few treats out of my hand. Is she ok? Wanda
Re: Dolly's not eating right
try feeing hers something that she has not had before, chicken tuna, anything that you think she might like, be unscientific and spoil her for a bit, also if possible take her temp with a regular peoples thermometer, and write result and tell vet....sometimew they go through a post surgical funk but usually temporary but do call your vet...
Re: Dolly's not eating right
Just an update. She is doing better, I did as you said and gave her just alittle something different then offered hers again and she ate, still not quite as much as she was but about like she was before kittens, she doesn't have them nursing anymore so don't guess she needs as much. She is in one of her wild cat moods today, jumping and running everywhere, so she must be better. I did talk to vet, he said eating should not have been a problem but if not better by today I should bring her in, so for now I'm just gonna wait and see. He also said should not be jumping for 10 days, now just how am I suppose to stop that, other than keeping her in kitty cage and that isn't fair. When she does jump up on something, I try to watch and help her when she is ready to get down. But I don't know in time before she jumps. Wanda
Re: Dolly's not eating right
theoretically and only that word but they say (who is they)that after the third day the incision is as strong as it everwill be, which i kinda (but cannot back it uyp) beleive cause i can't think of any that have ever dehised (popped open) after the third day...but don't let your cat be the first....
