His nose has started unilateral left side bleeding again. Mr. Dawg goes to the vets on the 22nd for an endoscope exame of his nose. He goes back on antibiotics now to clear up the bleeding before the exam. The vet is not happy with this and her prognosis isn’t thet good. Mr. Dawg is one of her favorites amoung our crew. She is thinking fungus or cancer. Any other ideas of what the problem could be. Note: He has had this in the past, when we first got him and it was treated at LSU where they determined it was a fungal infection. Every year at this time he gets a snotty nose, left side only. This is the side of his face that took most of the damage from being hit by a car. I am wondering if there could be a connection, but Dr. C says no.
Apache keeps trying to lick his nose for him. I am not sure if it is for the blood or because she senses something wrong. (Apache has always licked Mr. Dawg in the face since she was a pup.) Normally he growls and she leaves after a few licks, but lately he hasn’t growled at her.
On a happier note, here are some recent and not so revcent pictures of the crew out in the yard.
Everyone ran to the alley and began barking at the fence. I went over, but there was no one there, after careful examination I found what they were barking at...
After defending their territory from the vicious Anole, they gathered on the patio to discuss what to do if any other vicious back yard terrorists showed up. ...
Sweet Pea wasn't sure what all the fuss was about.
She and Prissy decided to sniff around for any dangerous things in the yard. They wouldn't complain if they found something yummy to eat or nice and smelly to roll in.
As befits a Prince, Prince supervised and remained above the mundane actions of the others.
Bernie fround a good spot from where he could survey the yard.
Later on we found what we thought was a beached whale, but it turned out to be Sweet Pea resting from her labors in the day.

Re: I am worried about Mr. Dawg...
iy just seems like your dogs always have to have a conference to settle thing, but i guess the conference occurs after the fact...like sassie,,she leaps into trouble and then thinks it over...\
re the nose, not many vets use the technique but it is pretty easy to look intothe no=se by putting a dental morror in back of the esophagus and shining a light and then getting a revers look...i have never done the procedure but the right or left side of the nose can be opened and what ever the problem is can be curretted out...this is usually for malignancies, but for fungal infection antifungal material can be injected right into the nose area going through the skin on top of the nose in front of the eyes....but this is futureism without having any idea what is going on up there....just wish you luck and keep usposted as to the results...and might be good to get the rest of the gang )your dogs) into thediscussion cause i suspect they all have separate ideas.....

Skeptic your dogs are all so wonderful! Never a dull moment when you have so many "kids" is there.
I am no vet, but I was thinking if this could possibly be triggered by allergies. Just like a human with chronic sinus problems, once you get a cold or stuffy noes from allergies, the next thing you know your plugged and need antibiotics. So I was thinking if he gets irritated by air born allergins, it exaserbates a problem that is there to being with (the car accident damage). Just a thought anyway, do you know if he has allergies?

I hadn't thought of allergies, but I should have.
A question for you - does this happen only when the humidity is very low? The reason I ask is that I have had a problem with nose bleeds most of my life, and I have no cancer, fungal infection, or bleeding disorder of any kind. The worst times are when the humidity is low and I am exposed to second-hand cigarette smoke. Just rubbing my nose then will cause it to bleed. I guess the combination of low humidity (and therefore dry nasal passages) with the irritation of the smoke really sets things off. Other allergens (like goldenrod) can also cause the same type problem for me. I would think it possible the it could be something this simple with Mr. Dawg as well.
Good luck! Hope the exam shows everthing is OK.

THe fact that the problem is only on one side, his left, has caused our vet to rule out allergies as the primary cause, though a mild allergy may help trigger the condition.
As for the humidity it has droped to about 80% lately. ......

Re: I am worried about Mr. Dawg...
Well, I guess 80% is low for your neck of the woods, just like it is in mine. I doubt that's low enough to cause the problem though. Just hoping it could be something that simple - you've been through such rough times with the furkids lately. Again, wishing good luck and hoping all goes well!

Thursday is the day we learn something maybe. He is going in for his Rhinoscopy in the morning. I will update when I hear something from the vet. Mr. Dawg had an extra special dinner tonight. The food police would get me if I said what it was, but he really enjoyed it. ...
