Dolly spay and annual

Post by Wanda »

Its getting closer probably next Thursday. As I told on earlier post I have been paying alittle along to cover all of this so it would be easier on me. This might be a solution for others in financial bind (I just went back to work 2 weeks ago), of course wouldn't work for emergencies but for shots, annuals etc. it has been great for me. We just discussed with our vet and each week paid on it til paid now unless the unexpected happens its all paid for. Now this is what Dolly will be getting and I want to know if all sounds right. I think these are vaccines: Drontal Cats, FIV, Feline Leukemia annual, Fel Panleuk,VR,CV,CP,RV-04-666. Spay, general anesthesia, cardiac monitor, Telazol, Prohylactic antibiotic, overnight observation,Torbugesic/Dolorex. She is 18 mos. old, and these are her first vaccines. I don't know what hardly any of this is and wonder if its to much to do at one time. I am going to be a basket case until this is over and she is ok. Opposite of another post when she is spayed will she stop her "in heat" behaviour? Thanks, Wanda

lots of people say noit to give the shots etc at time ogff spaying but i did it for years and never once had a problem with the combination---that does not mean something might not happen but it is very rare to have a problem if the kittne is healthy which can be deterimed before surgery...the most dangerous part of animal surgey now is the car trip to the office....relax and think good....

Well at least thats good news. She goes in the morning at 8:30, said to take away her food and water tonight. Hubby said he would take her for me, I am so nervous, I don't think I would leave her there. I definitely know this is the best for Dolly but it sure is hard. Will they call me and let me know she is alright afterward, I forgot to ask. Wanda

Oh so relieved, she is home safe and sound! :D She is lying on my bed now, we put the kittens in the kitty cage, kittens, Dolly and I all had a wonderful moment and hubby even had to get in on it. Then we put kittens in cage for now, don't want them to hurt Dolly. She is really licking the incision, that ok? Don't know much could do to stop it. She went straight to her litter box and all looked fine. Thanks for the support! Wanda

Hi Wanda,

Good to ear that Dolly is home, safe and sound...I know you are relieved...

Hopefully other can chime in and I could be wrong... but I don't think it's good that she is licking at her incision this soon after surgery. Did she happen to get an e-collar to wear. They are a pain but serve the purpose.
Is your vet office still open.. you can always give them a ring.

Thanks Lisa, I guess I have just been so upset over this I never thought to call the vet and ask.lol Soon as I read your response I called, they said just to keep an eye on it and make sure she didn't lick a stitch out, and thought she would probably quit doing it so much after she realized she was home, in her own surroundings. And sure enough she has almost quit. She is sleeping now. Wanda
