Pregnant Cat

Post by courtney333 »

My friend has a cat that is about a year and a half old. She just realized she was pregnant. She says her breasts are full of milk and her belly is hanging. Her appetite has grown over the last week or so, and today the cat has been running all over the house, and crying, also being skidish at times. Can anyone tell me what the signs are that the kittens are about to be born, like the few days before warning signs. Anything would be helpful.

There are also some good links on "Kittens", "Kittening" and "Fading Kitten Syndrome" on my website (Debbie's Feline Health) under Favorites on the menu on the left side of the board. If she's digging in a certain area looking for a good spot to have her kittens (nesting) it would be a good idication that the time is near. By your description of her current behavior, it sounds like she's about ready too.
Also, keep your vet's and a good ER verts phone number handy just in case of an emergency.
Good luck and keep us posted on how she's doing, okay?
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
