Introducing a new puppy to my kitties!
Introducing a new puppy to my kitties!
We are adding to the family in about 3 weeks! We are getting a Pug puppy that will be 8 weeks old when we bring her home. We have 5 indoor cats, ages 8 months to 6 years old. I was wondering what would be the best way to go about introducing the puppy to the cats? We plan to crate 'Piggy Sue' at night until she is house trained. I haven't experienced any problems when bringing a new kitten into the house. I am hoping that the cats will just think she is another kitten and it won't be a huge issue.
Re: Introducing a new puppy to my kitties!
Congratulations on the new addition!
I'm sorry, I can't find my old links, but I'm sure if you type "introduction puppy cats" or something similar into Google, you will get lots of info.
The only thing that always worries me, are the puppy's eyes.
Please make sure that you clip all your kitties' nails as short and blunt as possible before Piggy Sue arrives.
It might take a hiss or two, and maybe even a harmless little scratch on her cute puggy nose, but I'm sure she will learn very quickly. And hopefully they will all become friends in no time.
Best wishes!
