Hi,
My wife and I are going to be going on vacation to Asia for 3 months starting in May. We have 2 cats that are brothers, they are 4 years old. We are trying to get people who would be willing to take them while we are gone since we are getting rid of our apartment and going to find a new place to live when we get back.
The people we ask don't mind taking in one of the cats but are hesitant to take both in. I'm worried that if they are seperated for 3-4 months and then get back together when my wife and I find a new place they might not get along anymore... Could this happen?
I would prefer to keep them together, but it may not be possible. The biggset reason is that the only people we know that can take them live in very small apartments.
Thanks,
Logaan
Going on Vacation...
Re: Going on Vacation...
Yes, it would be stressful to seperate them, and you will probably have to start all over with re-introducing them again. I'd be more worried about how they react to YOU when you've been gone for three months.
You said you are leaving in May, that doesn't give you much time (should always prepare well in advance for situations like this). I suggest talking at length with your vet and his staff and asking if they know of trustworthy clients who may be willing to lend a hand in keeping the cats and keeping them together. You never know, even a trusted staff member at the clinic may offer some help.
