Question about my schnauzer

For a couple of months now, my schnauzer's (mini) nailbeds have been inflamed. I took him to the vet and they said it was allergies, but no medication, etc. was given. He's worse now. For the last couple of days, he's been sleeping all day, less activity, less eating, and his nose is warm. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has had a dog with a similar problem.

i don;t know how a diagnosis of allergy is made from the symptons of the nails as you said...i would suspect paranychia, which is a nail base infection....might be good to get another opinion

Or fungal infection too....ask your vet about getting a culture....last case scenario, get bloodwork done to rule out immunological, fungal, etc.
