Clementine the diabetic Cat Sad News

Post by Kendra »

Clementine was diagnosed with diabetes 6 months ago and Im so sad to say that as of today she is no longer with us :(
She was finally stabilized on the insulin and in January had a tooth problem. She had to have 2 teeth removed and was on the mend.. a few weeks ago she got a bladder infection and seemed to go downhill from there. She was not herself... she was drinking 2+ cups of water per day and peeing almost every 15 minutes. She seemed out of sorts and last night groweled at me when I was petting her gently. I took her to the vet today and the vet said that she thought poor Clems kidneys were going on her. She said she was certain there was more to this than the diabetes. My vet was very attached to Clem so I guess I will take comfort in knowing that she would do anything she could in Clems best interest. But she gave me no glimmer of hope. Making the decision to have Clem put down was the hardest Ive ever made.. I just hope it was the right one for her. SHe wont be in pain anymore.

Thank you Jason..
Clem surely was a spoiled girl. At nighttime she slept on a pillow above my head. I will miss her purrs tonight.

Kendra, I'm so sorry to hear of this sad news, I know you were doing so much for Clementine, my heart breaks for you.

Kidney disease can creep up very fast, sometimes it is end stage at time of diagnosis, there may truly have been nothing you could have done, especially since she had primary diabetes. I hope it is some comfort to you in knowing you did everything you could for her, it is obvious you loved her so very much.

Safe and gentle journey, sweet Clementine....

I am also very sorry for your loss. I know she was very special and you sound like a special person too! It was the truest form of love making the decision you did, you accepted the pain so she would no longer have it. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, Wanda
