take to the vet
take to the vet
I'm not sure why people post here..all their going to tell u is to take them to the vet...
Re: take to the vet
In defense of everyone that seriously loves their pets enough to visit this board regularly . . .
This board offers support, different ideas about problems, and helps in determining the magnitude of the problems.
This board may also function as a SECOND OPINION. I had been taking my kitten to a vet that was treating her unnecessarily for worms, repeatedly. She was not getting any better and I was at wits end. I was advised, by people from the board, that I should get another vet to look at her . . . and guess what?!?! She's healthy now!!!

Re: take to the vet
Well, sometimes, a person needs to hear (read) somebody else telling them to take their pets to the vet. Some people may not know if the symptoms are dangerous or just mild. They need the advice of others who may have been in the same situation. This place is a shoulder to lean on when the vet isn't available. Also, a vet can't be with you 24 hours a day like this place can.

cierra, feel free to move to another board that will pat your back instead of thinking highly for the physical and psychological well being of your animal. we advise on proven and medically sound help here, that is all.

Re: take to the vet
One of the biggest reasons you see alot of responses that suggest taking the pet to the vets is that no one here has access to the pet in question to evaluate its condition. Also in most cases,, a vet will have the diangositc tools to evaluate the condition, whereas we do not. And even if we could diagnose the condition accurately, what next? We can't prescribe necessary medications or treatments. Only a (you guessed it) vet can do all of this. All we can do is offer some ideas and support.
If you know of a board or forum that can accurately diagnose a pet's condition based on a few mentioned symptoms typed on the internet, please do let us know.

Re: take to the vet
im only taking time to respond to you becuase i know others will watch this.
others have chimed in appropriately (thanks) and Debbie's response was probably the most clear on this issue....we do not diagnose, we offer help where we can and also assist in explaining some things to you before/after you see a vet but nothing will ever replace you taking an animal in to a qualified/certified veterinarian....simply put, we are an online community that understands the importance of trained professionals.
your initial comment "all their going to tell u is to take them to the vet" is lacking truth. have you even looked through the many posts here? there are tons of proven medical tips/suggestions/clarifications/etc here and the advice to see a vet is done when there is even a slight possibility the animal will need some form of medical treatment beyond that of the typical pet owner. while this is often the case with pet animal illnesses, you cant fault us for knowing/appreciating that.
you also need to keep in mind that there are serious animal illnesses that start out with very small signs, but when its dealt with early on you and your pet have a much better chance for full recovery.
well thats ok, most of my points are to be taken anyhow. sorry for the mix up on the name/identity.guest wrote:sorry, but i'm not cierra
