Story of my kitty
This is the story of Mr.Popo my cat. I am 14 years old and I just moved to OH three years ago with my mom becuse my parents split. Well when you move some where new you don't usually have any friend s so my mom decided to get me a pet . I was always a cat person so i wanted a cat we looked all over and still couldn't find the one I wanted. One day i called a pet store and they said they had an 8 week old kittin. So we went and they said it was a manx it didn't look very manxy to me. well it turned out hes a japanese bob tail. But thats just a little back ground . Hes been my best friend ever since we got him. I love him to pieces but my mom and stepdad don't care much. thursday he got real sick and we didn't know why so we took him in. it cost 500 dollares so my mom didn't really want to but i begged her. Well this morning they called and said my best friend who always sat on the end of my bed when i was sick and never left is dying. they said he has feline lukemia or hiv . And i am really sad because i can't sit on the end of his bed and watch over him the way he has done for me the past three years. i 'll never get to rub hiss tummy or listin to him purr . my best friend is being ripped away from me and i can't ever have him back. And i just want him to be happy.

Sweetie, I am so sorry for what you and Mr. Popo are going through. I am also very happy though that he had you in his life to love him. I can tell by your post that a cat could never have found more love than what Mr. Popo found with you. It is also very apparent he loved you too. That is where you will find your comfort, in your memories and love for each other. What a special mom and stepdad you have, to help you and Mr. Popo in this way even though they are not so keen on cats themselves. I don't know anything about the medical side of it so I can't help there. But I know how it feels to lose a pet we love so dearly. You are a special person and I know Mr. Popo feels your love even though you can't be there. Please keep us posted. Love and Prayers for you both, Wanda

Get your kitty to a new vet, or talk to your current vet in detail about the treatment options. Both FELV and FIV can be treated agressively, but if there are secondary problems developing (organ failure, or bacterial infections), the prognosis is less favorable.
Just what has your vet diagnosed thus far? How is he treating him? With what medications? What obvious signs of ill health is your kitty suffering? If your vet is not explaining any of this to you, it's time to get your kitty to a NEW vet ASAP. Don't give up, get a second opinion right away, preferrably from a feline-only vet or an emergency veterinary clinic.

please be sure to fully explain all symptoms you are noticing when you see this new vet, be descriptive.IwuvMr.Popo wrote:we took him to an emegrncy one on staurday so maybe he might have something elese!
let us know how the visit goes as in
- what they test for (what tests are performed)
- what the results are
- what the vet rules your kitty's condition as
- what plan of action is prescribed.

Re: Story of my kitty
The vet we took him to today says he has a low wbc but it isn't luekimia he says there is some toxin in his bone marrow that his killing his white blood cells and has Ivs and antibiorics in him and says he looks he looks better because we took him in at 8. he says that if they can find out what the toxin is they might be able to cure him. so there is still hope for Mr.Popo!
