Skeptic - how's Mr. Dawg?

Post by k9Karen »

I've been wondering how he's doing and if you have a diagnosis yet?

I think he is in better shape than I am.

All but two of Mr. Dawgs tests were normal. His white cell count was slightly elevated indicating a mild infection. And he has some small oxalic crystals in his urine. There is no indication of any fungal material in the mucas sample she collected from his nose. \:D/

Any further information will require more dangerous, expensive and invasive testing. This is counter indicated by the fact he is responding well to the medication prescribed (Doxycycline) The nose discharge is almost completely gone and the bleeding stopped the very next day after treatment began. Dr. C feels that further testing should be carried out only if the condition returns when the antibiotics treatment stops.

We are treating the crystals in the urine with a change in diet.

Excellent! :D

So glad to hear that at least one dog problem seems to be going the right way. Hope it was just a bacterial infection of some type.

You said he's doing better than you are - have you been ill? I haven't seen many posts from you lately, but just figured you were busy. Hope you're OK.

I'm happy to hear that Mr. Dawg is improving. If he's anything like my dogs, they always seem to be snorting in the dirt over somthing no matter how much I keep after them. I bet he sucked something up there that caused some infection.
