delaying bitches season

Post by pupmom »

Hello! I have a question re: delaying a bitches season. My girl just had her second and last litter of puppies and will be spayed. I wanted to let her recover and completely dry up before spaying her and now have run into a possible problem. She's entered in some agility trials and is due to come into season a few days after. Since she's not "exact," she might come in a few days early for the trials. I really don't want to miss these trials and was very happy to get in at all. Is there something still on the market that I could give her to delay her season by just a few weeks that is safe? After the trials she could go ahead and come in, go through her season, and then get spayed.

I thought I'd check here before asking my vet tomorrow.

Thanks!

i beleive there are still pills on the market to delay the heat, can't remember the name but will think of it as soon as i post thise...but if you give them make sure you have her spayed as soon as the meets etc are over because the could possible lead to uterine problems....ask your vet....

Thanks! The only reason I'd even consider giving her something like that now is that she is going to be spayed immediately after the trials. I have always worked our competition schedule around her being in season.
