Some Shelter Pictures

Post by TheSkeptic »

First an update on one of our success stories. Dion is a little girl who had severe heart worms. The picture is taken as we return from the vets after her final check up from the heartworm treatment. In two weeks she will be spayed and have the Cherry eye treated then go to her new home. Until then a foster will care for her.

Image

We got 14 puppies in. All except two were healthy. The Little tri color in the upper center and the large white with black spot puppy next to her had to be put down. The one with the orange collar is already adopted and will go to the vet on Wednesday for shots, exam and neuter.

We had a little excitment of a different kind yesterday. The regular driver of the trash truck that empties out our dumpster quit and the new driver really screwed up. First off he hit the fence coming into the yard.

Image

He then almost dumps the contents of the dumpster on hiw windsheild. For an encore, he tried ripping out the phone, cable and power lines to the shelter. Fortunately he only got the former.
How did he do that you ask.. Look at this picture...

Image

Do you notice anything strange about the position of the lifting arm? It is straight up in the air.
In this shot you can see the shelter office wth the cable and phone lines sagging low toward the ground. The dog kennels are in the big building behind the trailer.

Image

In this next shop you can get an idea of how much the lines were stretched by his actions. For some reason or other they did not pull completely free and we still had phones and cable modem service.

Image

The trailer behind the Jeep is where the cats are kept. Naturally I call it the St. John the Baptist Parish Cat House....

The dumpster driver is lucky he didn't electrocute himself. What did the garbage company have to say about his antics?

The puppies are adorable. So sorry two of them were so sick. What was wrong with them? Are they all from the same litter? If so, they sure look like a strange mix of breeds.

I understand the driver was terminated.

No idea. The vet examined the pups and recommended euthansia for those two. All the others are healthy. Most of the pups are from a single litter.
