I'm new here, sorry if this is wrong...

Hi all...
Glad to find a kitty forum :)
I don't know if I am posting this in the right place, but I hope so.
We have a cat approx. 1 1/2 years old who is MEAN!!! She will not let me groom her (and is LONG HAIRED), will not let me trim her nails...she is getting some mats in her fur, and her nails are like razors. Sometimes you are just petting her and she bites and scratches. She has been this way since she was a tiny kitten. We got her when she was approx 4 weeks old. She was YOUNG, but could eat cat food soaked in milk or warm water. We love her, her name is Trouble by the way (how appropriate) and will never get rid of her, but how do I deal with the fur and claw issue?? If I call my vet and ask for his help will he act like I am nuts for wanting him to "knock her out" so I can brush her and trim her claws??
We have another cat named Patches. She is 15 years old, and I can do ANYTHING with or to her. She is so laid back....how can they be so different??
I know this was a long post, and you don't know me, but I appreciate your time and help.
Jb.

one cat can be worlds different from another, that is typical. both of my cats dont allow me to groom or trim nails either...doesnt mean that i listen to them.

if you can spare another hand to help, that would make matters easier. i think there is someone on this board that grooms cats (other than their own) and might be able to give you some tips, but i think the general idea is to choose times when they are just barely waking up and try to clip as many as you can and repeat on the next sleeping.
