Cat peeing on plastic bags

Post by CatNap »

Our newest kitten, Boo, is about 5 months old now. She seems very normal and does use the litter box with no problem. I have noticed that she will pee on any plastic bag if we leave it out. Sometimes, I forget and when I get up, she has peed on the plastic bag on our kitchen table. Is it possible that everything is normal with her and she does this just because they are there? I know all the symptoms of UTI's and such but I just wonder if maybe this could have something to do with her being feral when we found her? Thanks ahead of time!

Yes, it is possible she is associating the plastic bags with her previous environment outside. If you have never noticed her urinating on other things, other surfaces, etc...chances are, the plastic bags are by association only (and providing there are no true litterbox aversions, no straining, inability to produce normal amounts of urine that would all indicate a health problem).

On the otherhand, if you HAVE noticed her urinating on other items or surfaces, don't wait to get her checked by your vet promptly.
