Doglady, Sasha is beautiful!! I'm so glad she came to you
Isn't it odd how it works out that way sometimes? Mr. Blue came to us when we had no intention of getting a dog for a while; we were living in a "No Dogs Allowed" apartment at the time, and had to move fast. How old is Sasha? She sure looks happy in those pics!

Thanks, Mary! I think she's a pretty girl too. After looking around very briefly, I decided to wait until spring, or maybe luck out with a dog that would find me, as Jezzy, Jingles and another dog I once owned did. Didn't have to wait too long, either!
I don't know her age. She was originally picked up as a stray by a pound in another area. The police officer I adopted her from showed me the papers he got from the pound and they had her age as two. She's older than two (even though she acts like she's two LOL with all that energy and constant playing. My own guess is she's more like 3 1/2 or 4. She has a little grey on her muzzle, but Jingles began to grey shortly after she was 2 1/2. For the life of me, I can't imagine why her original owner never claimed her, unless she ended up in this County a long distance from her home.
She knows sit, stay, come, will give you her paw and also knew several phrases, the very first day I had her. Her last home (I am her third) had her for about two months. They had 3 or 4 young boys, and a daughter who is two. The boys loved to roughouse with Sasha, so she would play hard, and they worried about the toddler being hurt. I don't roughouse with any dog, and don't think parents should allow their kids to do this either. I have already stopped the rough play with her, and she's perfecly fine. Loves to play fetch, and will release her ball, or whatever, when I tell her to drop it.
I have a feeling that she has always been exercised in a fenced yard, and not walked on a leash, as she's a puller, and clueless about how to walk properly on a lead. I am working on this now, since there's not too much ice left on the roads, and it has warmed up a bit. Today, she met up with a GSD boy that belongs to a friend, that he's showing. Once they checked each other out, she was fine, other than when he sniffed her butt and put his paw on her back. Wasn't thrilled about that, and growled, but didn't lunge or do anything else. I did correct her. The two of us went for a short walk before I had to go to a job, and they got along quite nicely. We plan to get together now and walk the two of them, as I would like her to have a dog friend and want her to interact nicely with other dogs. Her last owner said she loved to play with his neighbor's Doxie and Chi. Apparently, she likes small dogs, as my Jezzy and Jingles did.
She's a nosey one, and curious about everything she sees. She sits on the ground and watches the birds flying around, then gets up wagging her tail. She's also "squirrel obsessed," and would love to chase after them. This AM, she was up in my loft and was barking on and off. When I took a look, I saw a fly that must have come in when I was cleaning the windows. She was barking at the fly LOL. I've had dogs snap at flies, but never bark at them. She's also fascinated with the planes when flying overhead, and will sit and watch them until they are out of sight.
I hope to be able to do some advanced obedience work with her, if I can fit it in around my schedule, which changes day to day, which makes it difficult to plan anything.

Sasha is indeed gorgeous and I too am very glad you have her. I'm late replying because - kind of a joke on myself - I "suspected" Sasha was a GSD but for some reason could not open the site... then later could not remember where I had seen your post and couldn't seem to find it... so I finally got the URL again and found I could open it on another browser [a 'puter techie I'm not ] Sasha's pics and your description of her habits remind me so much of `Eowyn... or "Winnie" as most people call her.
Win's best friend in one obedience class was the trainer's tiny Italian greyhound named Rosie - Win is from a line of large 'working' GSDs; we owners would hold our breath as this "Mutt & Jeff" pair chased each other madly around the clearing during play periods... but they seemed to know exactly what was what and neither got hurt. It comforts me to know you and Sasha are together. Congratulations!

Thanks E's! I really wanted a GSD girl badly, and planned to search for one in my area. Jingles, who I had for more than 17 years was a GSD/Dobe, and had many of the GSD traits, which I loved. She was a smart girl too, and the easiest dog I had ever owned, to train. Sasha sure has filled a huge void after losing both my girls this past fall. She keeps me plenty busy, and is lots of fun.
Tonight, I suddenly had a problem with my furnace. It came on, I had hot water, but no heat was coming up. So, I had to call my heating contractor to come over, and ended up having to replace both zone valves that had jammed and wouldn't open. Sasha, being a "nosey parker," had to see *who* was in the basement, so I put her on a leash and brought her down. She sat quietly the whole time watching Jimmy's every move while replacing the valves, and if he looked at her, that big fluffy tail that I love was sweeping the floor. Too bad Sasha couldn't pay that $500+ bill for me!
That must have been funny to watch Winnie and little Rosie chasing each other LOL!
Do you have a pic of Winnie you can post for me? If you do, I would love to see it.
