Cat theft?

Post by lotus »

Hello everyone!

About 4 months ago i got my cat as a kitten and kept him in for about a month or so, after that i started letting him out as normal. Then two weeks ago he went missing, i contacted the rspca etc and still nothing, he always came back at meal times so i thought this was strange.
Luckily he turned up a couple of days ago and came in and spent the night in his usual place, i let him out and he didnt come home that night. I knocked on some of the neighbours doors about this and it turned out that a neighbour had been feeding him and taking him in a t night, she said that he looked hungry?!?!
Now the problem i have that he will continue togo round there and if it wasnt for me seeing him on my way home from work he wouldnt be here now.

Has anyone got any advise on what i can do? Should i keep him in for a few weeks? i obviously dont want to loose my cat, and the womans said that cats make there own beds... Now i know this is true but feeding and keeping a cat in is only going to mean he will keep going back, and in a way i guess that is theft.

Any thoughts and coments greatly apreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, but this forum is not going to give you a sympathetic ear to your situation. By all rights, your neighbor is more concerned about your kitty than you are (hence the feeding, taking him in at night because she is perhaps fearful of the outdoor dangers)

Theft? I hardly think so. You willingly and consciously allow your kitten outdoors, putting him at risk for numerous outdoor hazards and risks, least of all being taken in by a caring neighbor.

If you don't want to lose your kitten, the solution is to acclimate him indoors period.
