Neutered Male Cat Humping owners at night
Neutered Male Cat Humping owners at night
We have a male cat, 9 yrs old, who was neutered before we got him. He is an inside cat and never is around other animals. 2 weeks ago, he began meowing and humping the blanket on our bed, we changed it. However, he continues to do this with a different blanket and will hump our legs in the middle of the night and when we move him to stop, he hisses and meows and gets mad and aggressive with us. What is happening? It is getting really frustrating and he won't let my husband and I sleep. He only does this when we are in bed. Help!

Maybe one of three things.......stress, boredom or an underlying health condition that is affecting his behavior.
First and foremost, please get him checked by your vet to rule out potential hidden illness (include a urinaysis too please and bloodwork if you haven't had this done for your kitty within the last year).
If your vet deems him perfectly normal and healthy, then look back on events that may have been stressful to him recently (abrupt changes in the environment, changes in your routine, etc)
If he is bored, he may simply be looking for your attention. Try spending some added time with him during the late evenings (playtime, grooming) to help tire him before you retire.
