OK!
I wrote last week about my cat Squash, who is having problems being jumping, walking, and just generally being lethargic.
My vets are thinking its Myasthenia Gravis! I've read this is uncommon in cats, as it appears more in canines!
Does anybody know anything about this? What sort of treatment I can expect and also, if anyone has had their cat have a "tensilon" test, how much can I expect to pay for the test.
I am very excited by the prognosis, since it appears that I will have a special needs cat vs. a dead cat! But I would love some more information, feedback, pros/cons, what to expect....
Thank you all so very much!
Myasthenia Gravis in Cat???
Re: Myasthenia Gravis in Cat???
Depends on the severity and effectiveness of treatment....aquired has the best results providing no tumor is found (unlikely in a young kitten)
Here is more info on Myasthenia Gravis
Did more than one of your vets diagnose this, or are they all tentatively waiting on your ok for the testing? If more than one agrees to the testing, I would proceed, if the other vets have other thoughts, I would discuss those potentials in full....although there would be a pretty good indication to test specifically just to get it ruled in/out.
