Kitten with bad odor

Post by oldtimeradioguy »

I recently rescued a kitten form the local shelter. she was appx. 3 months old. When I got her, she had been giving "The Surgery" and was still sticky and stinky. I waited a week and then gave her a good long overdue bath to rid the odors of the kennel. Since then (About 3 months) my kitten has a foul odor that just radiates from her almost all the time, I have not really noticed it as BAD BREATH, just an ODOR that can basically turn your stomach. Some days are wosre then others. What can cause this and what can I do, I have basically renamed her Stinky. But I want my cute little Megan back. Please advise.

assuming it is not seborrhea , which i suspect the kitten is too young to develop..have you checked the ear canals, if not the mouth and not caking of feces on the fur then the ears would be the most logical...

incidently whats with the radid guy??ham radio (K3EPD here) or philco type ole guy or army type old radio guy???)??)

Megans ears are just fine and no feces are eveident, she appears to be very clean and grooms herself quite often.

it could be infection. If you've taken her to the vet, they would have seen that.

It also could be that she has some sort of mouth or tooth infection. My kitty started smelling bad when she passed by and we picked her up and she reeked. It turned out she was cleaning herself daily but she had a mouth infection, so she was spreading the smell all over herself.

Good luck!
