My sisters cat has just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She found this link and asked me about it. I don't really know. Has anyone tried radioactive Iodine?

The only drawbacks to radioiodine treatment are cost, availability of clinic in the client's area, and the time frame the owner cannot visit the kitty during treatment.
Every patient is different with different needs, your sister should be consulting with the radioiodine clinic who provides the service so she knows what to expect. If there are any other health conditions present, these will be taken into consideration prior to any radioiodine treatment.
