I'm glad to hear you're looking into other vets....but please do act quickly...

As for the second thyroid results, ideally, you DID want them to be in a lower range, but not below normal range. In that event or any time the levels are fluctuating, it is for that reason meds are adjusted. If they weren't adjusted or nothing was explained to you, then your vet wasn't being thorough with you. I can't imagine him leaving an office attendent telling you about the meds, he should have discussed this thoroughly with you himself and should also have discussed adjusting the medication doseage if it were required.

It's possible the pathology results aren't in yet, but that is no excuse for your vet not to be in contact with you, at least to offer a followup with you for Charlie. I'm only going by what you say here, so if you declined the blood transfusion or other options yesterday, and if your vet didn't know your thoughts and decisions, we can't fault him for that. The main objective is rechecking Charlie's PCV, thyroid, kidney and liver function ASAP. The sooner this is done, the sooner you can treat, even if it is conservative at this point in time (i.e., nutritional support, fluid therapy, etc, but always keep in the back of your mind a secondary problem could be developing as we speak -- i.e., hypertension, heart, etc...best to be one step ahead)
