why does my cat want to use the restroom on this one color??

I have had my cat for close to a year and he is real good tempered animal. I really want to know if cat's can see color? The reason I ask is because he only seems to urniate out side of the litter box on to blue bath mats with a longer nap. I really havnt tried a differnt color other than white and the nap on the white one is very short. Could it possibly be that he see's color and just likes peeing on blue? Or does it have something to do with the fact that the blue bath mats are usually a longer nap? Also before anyone asks he still has his claws. And his litter box is kept very clean.

they don't actually see color as such but can differentiat the hues , ie blue maybe more intense than brown etc......they put "glasses " on chickens to keep them from pecking each other,,,maybe a pair of sun glasses on your cat will help-----good luck on that one though

Hmmm.. Well, it's obviously not because the litterbox is dirty since you've said you keep it clean. Did you recently change the brand of litter you use? Or switch to the crystals? My children had trouble adapting to the crystals when I first switched them over, but are fine now.
Also, check the bottom of his feet. Make sure there's no injury to his pads or anything. The litter might be hurting one of his fet, which wuld be why he like to use the mat instead.

If all else fails, take the mats off the floor.
