Update on Silvestre....

Post by Sara »

He has been on the allergy injections for a couple of months now. I have 3 vials, A, B and C. The shots get farther and farther apart. As hard as it was I finally learned to give him the injections myself to save the stress of the vet coming over. He still gets sore spots, they come and go. He gets baths often because it helps with this problem. Sometimes if the vet thinks a sore spot gets too bad we use a cortizone cream but usually just a bath with medicated shampoo. Outside of the spots, he has like 3 now, he looks beautiful and acts happy. At the end of 9 months this will all be over and hopefully no more rash and he can eat regular cat food. He is still on the HA food which he does not really like that much but is getting used to. Funny thing, he still has the rash, even with the food. Might be the allergy shots and his body making antibodies. I am still considering looking for another place to live that's not on an avenue. I am sure the polution can't be good for him. I just need to find the right house. Lets keep our fingers crossed that this therapy works. :)

They did numerous skin scrapings and they all came back negative. Also, hypoallergenic food, he's still on it. We have tried special creams everything. So the allergy test/blood test that was sent to Spectrum labs in the states showed various allergies. This is supposed to build up his natural antibodies. I hope it works. :) Has anybody had or known a cat to go through this series of shots?
