How does Frontline Work?

I just used Frontline on my kitten. Does anyone know how it works? Will dead fleas just fall off of her in 24 hours? I've seen a few trying to get off of her and a few dead on her. But I'm afraid they're all going to jump onto her blanket or onto the couch or carpet and we'll still have fleas. Any ideas???
