well...crazier
Wicket...she can be the sweetest little thing in the world...when she's sleeping We've almost broke her of her hissing when you pick her up, the biting is getting better but she still does it a bit. It's funny though, her hiss has no threat to it, it's almost like a habit. Now...worse of all her behavioral issues - she goes through spurts during the day where she insists on constantly getting on the table and the counters in the kitchen. All of our cats have been taught that the table and counters are off limits..period (or course we aren't so naive as to think that they don't do it when we aren't around!!)
But wicket...she will sit there and contemplate the jump..then look at one of us who will tell her no calmly...then she will look back at the counter (or table) and contemplate some more...then look at us and get a stern no...then she will turn around, make the jump and run from us hissing if we try to remove her. Yes, we know it's a game...we have tried to make it unpleasant for her with water, claps, distractions with toys, she has high places she is allowed, she has other cats to play with, she has toys galore and she loves them, but not as much as getting on the counter...she insists on this patricular game!! Foil doesnt' inhibit her, nothing noisy does...water will to a certain extent but we can't constantly stand guard with a water bottle. We've tried ignoring her...if we do that she will just start knocking stuff off, or simply lies down. I'm really at my wits end...I still have no leads on finding her a home, can't take her to a shelter (don't have the heart), but I am also getting a bit of cat overload, we don't live in that large of a house and the two of the four are becoming increasingly irritated with Wicket always wanting to play...heck even Willow is getting irritated with her at times. I know she picks up on this and I do my best to always tell her I love her and she's sweet and play with her as much as the others...She's a typical kitten still...and I love that about her... but I'm really getting short fuse with not being able to sit down to dinner, or to watch a movie without being interupted by her misbehavior. We have tried confining her at these times, but she makes such a noise at the door!! Besides I don't like confining for human convenience...it just isn't right to me. Help!!!

you need double sided tape... a LOT of double sided tape.
and some boards/card board/stiff paper cut to the size of your kitchen counter, or cut in a manner that fits your kitchen counter... or fits together to cover the counter... cover the board with double sided tape...
this should work...
then you need a box full of ping pong balls and a couple of washed peacock feathers... my cats totally loose their minds when i bring out the peacock feather... if you have the time you should just totally get her tired from chasing the peacock feather... and if you can just sort of hold it out of reach from her while you're watching tv... that'll keep her out of trouble if nothing else... she'll calm down eventually... well ... hopefully she'll grow out of it

Tina, she sounds like such a fun cat! Constantly thinking and planning- I love those kind of cats so much and would take her in a heart beat. I do know some folks in Florida and I will ask them if they want her unless you really do want to keep her? If you can email me a photo at maryanne@meowhoo.com that will help in placing her as well.
I had one just like her years ago, and he insisted on getting up on the television. There are two places in our home that cats are not allowed, and that is one of them. Tumbowls would get up there time and time again and nothing I did seemed to work to stop him. One day I brought some balloons (helium filled) home to work with my horses with. I noticed that Tums was scared of the movement of the balloons. So in a moment of inspiration, I taped a couple on top of the television and set a small fan on low to blow them around. Finally, he jumped up there, swatted a balloon, his claw popped it and he took off in a hot run. NEVER got up there again- never even looked in the direction. LOL

Re: This cat is going to drive me crazy with her behavior!!!
Thanks for the suggestions...I thought of double sided tape yzma....I've tried distracting her with tons of toys and such...but as soon as we quit she's back on the table and counters She would keep us busy 24/7 if given the chance...and I swear she rarely sleeps!!
MA...if you are really willing to help me place her I'd gladly accept the help. Honestly I'd keep her if we had a bigger place...I've grown very attached to her at this point. She was born her, raised her and lived here most of her life...we love her dearly but took her in knowing she wasn't going to be permanent. It's just too much with 5 adult cats in the house. I'll send you some pics of her....I assume anyone you would refer for adoption would be an absolute cat lover like you and I. I'm very reluctant to adopt her out to just anyone. Someone has to have lots of patience and not object to her mischievous nature. She is a very fun cat, my heart breaks to think of giving her up, but I really have to think of our other cats too...Gizmo and Frodo aren't taking to well to the cat overload...and even Willow has become annoyed at Wicket. I do think Wicket would do well in a home with other cats though...she loves to play with Khanada and is full of energy!!
Sorry it's been a while since I posted..I was out of town..
