Monday I gave him two small doses before I caught it . He seems fine in every way , but Tue. I noticed his bottom was stained with bright yellow .I am calling my vet tommrow , but was wondering if any one ever had this situation and is it dangerous? Thank You for any help given.

Vaseline is not recommended...instead, there are various hairball remedies you can get just about anywhere. You can also try Laxatone, which is usually the most effective for cats.
I was unaware vaseline came in scented forms...since this is your case, you need to get your kitty seen by your vet promptly and list the ingredients in the vaseline so your vet can determine if there is anything listed that is potentially toxic (like essential oils, these are toxic to cats).....don't wait, call/see your vet immediately.

Re: Scented vaseline and kitties
Being that most vaselines are petroleum based, I am surprised your vet recommended this. I haven't seen the new ones out lately, I hope your kitty will be okay. You can also add fish oil to her diet in very small amounts or cod liver oil to help her with hair balls.

Hi ,
I will try fish oil for my kitty. He has trouble with constipation and is on a c/d/s perscription diet . Someone said virgin olive oil and mabey some pumpkin might help . The vet says he does not have mega colon or blockage of any kind, which is great news.
Thank You
