If you have to give a dog Kaopectate and they don't especially like the taste, is it alright to mix a small amt of plain yogurt with it or does that decrease the effectiveness?
For what purpose? If gastrointestinal upset, I'd simply give the Kaopectate through a syringe, just be quick about it, and follow with water or a bland treat...
acidophilus and live cultures are good for the GI tract. If you have pepto bismol in the house, it may be better. Kaopectate is better for cats, they can't take the salicylates in pepto. But to be honest, neither is very good. I would not give it for more than 12 hrs. If it doesn't clear up (the diarrhea, I would call or see your vet. There are SO many things that can cause diarrhea, small vs. large bowel is important as well. Also, if there is pain, dehydration, fever, blood in the stool, or no response to the kaopectate, defniitely a visit to the vet is in order. Good luck.
