We just got a new kitten (she is 14 weeks old) about 4-5 days ago. Sage is a good kitty, but she cries alot it seems. Where she lived, she had other cats to play with and little kids, and she has none of that here. She plays and sleeps normal cycles, and she has plenty to eat and plenty to play with. The thing is... she will walk around and meow and meow and meow, for no reason it seems. Is she lonely? We'll play with her, then she gets bored and walks away and starts meowing again. Plus when we leave for work, and then come home, she'll run up to us and meow at us. Is there something wrong with my kitten or is the consistant noise-making normal?
Has she had a thorough exam by your vet yet? If not, now is the time. All newly aquired kittens and cats need to get a full exam by your vet....he will then advise on deworming, vaccinations and dietary issues.
She has already had all of her shots for the first year... we got her from a family and the lady we got her from is a vet.. so she is in perfect health... any ideas??
I have 3 cats and one of them, Poopie, is kind of a chatterbox. Poopie is a lot more vocal than the others, however, I find it kind of cute. Also, my husband "talks" back to her and they carry on a complete conversation of meows! It's pretty funny. Maybe you should try meowing back to her!! Fortunately she doesn't do this at night. Does your kitty keep you awake at night with her meowing?? [If she does, I suggest you reverse her sleep pattern by keeping her up in the daytime for a few days so she'll learn to sleep thru the night.]
Another thing -- when I moved to my new home, my kitty cried quite a bit for awhile. Perhaps it's an adjustment thing. You said you only have her 4-5 days. Maybe it has to do with the new environment, and unfamiliar surroundings, etc. Give her some time, I'm sure she'll adjust and settle in.
My Caz is part Siamse and talks/cries alot....he always has...he has toned down as he aged..(he is 3 now) but needless to say, still whines to make his needs known...lol..his talking grew on me...
Do you know if Sage behaved this way in the other home?? Isshe by any chance, part Siamese...
