Jolly-happy

Bo- short for Beau. I have a friend that calls her Bichon Frise "Bo Bo" he's a sweet and smart little dog. His original name was Beau.

Bailey- after the character George Bailey in "Its a Wonderful Life"

I've always liked Roscoe and one of Skeptic's choices: Jake.

Personally, I don't see a Westie as a 'Jake', all the 'Jake's' I've known were big dogs, but it's not about what I like. I've never been good at naming pups. All 3 of the puppies I've had over the years waited at least a week to get a name. I had to get to know them to see what fit.

Ok, maybe one of these will fit:

Shaggy - from the Scoobie Doo cartoon, but also fits a long haired dog. (and of course, there's always Scoobie, kids like that one).
Romeo - is he a 'little love'?
Buddy - everybody's good friend
Barkley - self explanatory
Fagan - is he a 'little sneak or thief' - From the novel Oliver Twist. (The name 'Oliver' might fit the right dog too)
Bouncer or Chase - we used to have one down the road (named Bailey, BTW, and that fit him somehow) that would come visit Mickey several years ago - he definitely bounced when he walked and loved to be chased.
And if his personallity is anything like all the terriers I've known, something like Hurricane or Tornado might be appropriate.

Then of course there are all the human names that might fit too, depending on his personality.
Just for fun, here's a list of Irish names - one might be just right!

That's the way I was. I knew I'd know it when I heard it! I think Leah took the longest - I heard the name on a news broadcast, and for some reason, it fit her. Mickey was named by my husband (for a dog he had as a child), but it did fit him. Allie's name has the best story. Every name I thought of, hubbie and kid hated. And I hated every name they came up with. We'd had her at least a couple of weeks and my daughter was kidding me - were we just going to call her 'the puppy'? We were on the floor playing with 'the puppy' and she was biting at our hands with those sharp puppy teeth. Sheltie pups have very pointed muzzles, and when she was biting at us, she looked like an alligator. I looked at my daughter and teasingly said "We can name her 'Gator'. (My daughter is a graduate of Florida State University, and their arch rival in sports is the University of Florida - 'The Gators'). She looked at me, and said, "How about "Allie" (for alligator) - and it was the perfect fit, so our little pup finally had a name!

A name will be found for your friend's little Westie - even if it does take a while!

The way Roxy got her name:

We drove about 2 hours east of L.A. one Saturday morning to meet a one year old GSP who was up for adoption... it was love at first sight and on the way home with our new found friend, Nancy and I spent the entire drive trying to come up with our own name for her - we didn't care for the call name she had with her previous owners and since we had missed out on her first year as a puppy, we at least wanted to name her. We couldn't think of a name that seemed to fit and as we pulled off the freeway near our home, Sting and the Police came on the radio singing " Roxanne". Nance and I looked at each and both said " That's it!". Roxy had her new name and within a day, she knew it was her's , guess we managed to find the right name with Sting's help - we sure found the right dog.
