Motion sickness

Post by oconnorjoy »

Pebbles is still getting car sick when she travels for more than a couple of blocks. I am going away for Christmas and will be bringing her with me. My vet is suggesting gravel...what do you guys think?

Good idea. Our trip at Christmas will be aprox 6 hours. I need to know how she is going to react to the meds before the trip. I'll take her in to be weighed in the next few days and maybe do a trial run this weekend.

i would love to see the chemical structure of this
gravel and benadryl...i bet some body threw a CH3 or somthin on one of the rings and made it into a slightly different compound...nothing wrong with that but it would be interesting as to the difference...

Joy, I think Davet's giving you a bad time

Davet, it's the same as dramamine (empirical use)...similar to chlorpheniramine (antihistamine, trade name-chlortrimeton).

C'mon Traci do i ever give anyone a hard time.....don't answer that..i forgot about checking the generic for dramamine....throws off all my philosophies....it just "harkened" (how bout that word) to my research days in that i learned so many "new discoveries" were reformulation of the old tried and true..we would look at the ring structure of so called new drugs and realize that all that was done was to add a certain group to one point in the ring (i think position 17 was common for the different types of cortisones)///it was done to get past the copyrites on the originals...so i accept dramamine and if i am going to give anyone a hard time-----you are number one on the list

I don't know about the different cortisones, but that's pretty much the same thing they've done with so many of the antibiotics - just changed a side-chain or two. No wonder the the 'bugs' figured out how to become just as resistant to the 'new' wonder drug as it was to the old one (last year's wonder drug)!

Ok....way over my head! On a more serious note....what can I expect the drug to do to Pebbles. I am a bit nervous giving her drugs that affect the CNS and respiratory system since she is only 4 lbs. My vet is going to weigh her and give me an exact dosage to give her.
