Had a really neat encounter while walking Mr. Blue tonight

Post by Mary Plummer »

Hello everyone, and Happy Friday!

As I was walking Mr. Blue down to a street corner, we both noticed two young men about to cross our way. Mr. Blue was doing his watch and check thing, and started wagging his tail as they got close. They politely said hello, and then one said "Does your dog really have blue eyes, or is it the light?" So I said he did, and Mr. Blue went up for pets from both of them. One asked if he was friendly, and I said yes, and he said it seemed like he'd really been watching him. I said he was, and he'd decided that they were OK, and no threat to me. One then asked what he would have done if he thought they weren't OK, so I told them he would get right in front of me, and growl. Then they asked what kind of dog he was, and I said we weren't positive, that he was a stray who adopted us. One of them then said "That's a beautiful way to put it. I've got some friends who took in a stray dog, and they tell everyone that's what they did, like they want everyone to compliment them for it. You don't care about that at all, do you?" I said I didn't. They then said a very nice good bye to Mr. Blue, and walked on. I thought it was really nice. They seemed young undergrad age or so, and after working with them all week, it was nice to have a really good interaction with them.

Very nice Mary- seems Mr. Blue gets a lot of interaction from ppl- I think he has animal magnetism (and a nice friendly owner doesn't hurt, either)

Thanks momPaws! I definitely think he's got that magnetism, but I'm willing to admit I might be biased :D He does indeed like most people, except those few he picks up something bad from. I think a lot of people he's never met before are drawn to him at first because of his eyes. Then they look a little closer, at his "funny-looking speckles," and seem to want to know more about him. by then, his tail is wagging and he wants a pet or an ear rub from the person.
