An apparent murder-suicide in a small trailer park near Hammond shook neighbors who were surprised by the violent act and left them dismayed that the lady they knew as a loving, caring person who had opened her home to a couple of dozen stray dogs was slain, allegedly by her husband.

One of Jacinda Granier's 25 dogs sits, well kept, in a cage. Deputies say that 59-year-old Kenneth Granier, the former manager of the park, shot his 28-year-old wife Jacinda in the chest just before 5 a.m. Wednesday before turning the gun on himself. Detectives found the bodies in the master bathroom.
“I just feel horrible about it,” said Amy McCahill, a neighbor. “I don’t understand how it could happen.”
To adopt a dog
If you want information on how to adopt one of the couple's pets, call Tangipahoa Animal Control at (985)-543-0215
Deputies who came to the crime scene found 25 dogs inside the Granier’s trailer – all apparently healthy and well cared for by Jacinda Granier, who was well known for her love of animals.
“She cared a lot about animals,” said Tangipahoa Animal Control Director Mike Harris. “She brought strays in. She’s adopted animals from us before.”
Law enforcement officials said there was no history of domestic problems at the home, but neighbors said that Kenneth Granier had changed and kept to himself more since retiring from his job as a refinery worker.

The latest I heard about the types of dogs is the following:
9 Chihuahuas
4 Huskies (possibly mixes)
1 Beagle
2 Labs (One black and one yellow)
The rest poodles.
I have no idea of what the bird is.
Contact the Tangipahoa Animal control for more info on adoptions and rescues.
