Just when you can't be stunned
My friend who fosters, and does a great job at it, took one of her fosters to the vet today for constipation. When the vet called the president of the rescue organization about the treatment program, the vet was told to put the cat to sleep! No one even told my friend beforehand about it, or she would of tried to stop it, or at least said goodbye! What is the point of rescuing cats if you don't want to follow through with the care of it? The cat was only 5 years old!
The smallest feline is a masterpiece.

I'd be taking that up with the VET, it was his obligation to tell the rescuer in the event she could find another vet to care for the cat or so that she could find suitable care arrangements. This is just another reason I despise some of these organizations.

Ugh...
What a horrible person. gives rescues a bad name. She wanted the cat put to sleep because she didn't want to pay to figure out what was wrong and the treatment? That's ridiculous...I don't even want to think of the bills my rescue has because we refuse to do anything BUT treat the cat. Euthanasia is not an option for us unless the cat is truly suffering and there's nothing we can do about it. We ran up a 1500 vet bill for an MRI..oh for crying out loud, I'd love to give that person a piece of my mind.

That's horrible! I would think the vet should contact whomever dropped the cat off firstm as the person may be able to make other arrangements...maybe even through their own pocket. Poor little kitty will be in my prayers for better chances in Kitty Heaven.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

My heavens!
How awful! I can't believe they did it without even checking with your friend! What if she'd wanted to pay for it with her own money? What if she had resources to pay for the treatment??? They didn't even care???
Sheesh!
I'm so angry right now!
