Our cat Mookie is a 16 lb, 4 yr old tuxedo cat. She has been vomiting excessively for the past 3 days now and seems very lethargic. We took her to the vet yesterday and he said her bloodwork came back ok, and that it's probably just a hairball she needs to pass.
She hasn't eaten or drank anything, and hasn't used the litterbox-the vet gave her an enima and we are giving her amoxicilin, and also a lubricant to get her to pass the hairball.
Mookie just isn't herself and we are still worried about her.....
Any suggestions? Should we just wait it out? Help!
excessive throwing up, something's wrong...
Re: excessive throwing up, something's wrong...
Did your vet x-ray her? If not, I'd get her back in promptly for an x-ray to at least rule out foreign body or inflammation. The concern here is that she hasn't eaten nor drank for over 3 days, and an obstruction could be located anywhere from stomach, intestine to colon, you really don't want it going missed. Dehydration is also a concern with excessive vomiting, and without sufficient nutrition, her liver is compromised.
I wouldn't wait on this, get her back to your vet for an x-ray or a new vet altogether.

Gee, yes, please take her to another vet asap, or the emergency room. In my cats for dummies handbook it says that if a cat throws up 4 times in one day it's cause to see the vet right away. This situation sounds serious & the longer you wait the more complications could set in. Please take kitty to doctor right away!
