Found a wonderful passage about grieving for a dog that I

Post by Mary Plummer »

wanted to share. I actually think this applies to all kinds of grieving for all kinds of loved ones.

"You are experiencing what D.H. Lawrence call the "shadowland." It's that place of deep pain that makes a context for gratitude. If you didn't love so deeply, you wouldn't grieve so fully. The shadow makes the light that much brighter. And if you try to protect yourself from this pain, you will close your heart off from the greatest gifts that life has to offer. You would become low-risk and walk the pathway of fear instead of love..." This came from an article called "Lessons to Learn from the Death of Beloved Pets," by Linda Wilson Fuoco. I was doing a search for something on my lunch hour, and found this, and printed it out. I thought it was so true and right on that I printed it out to save.
