Freckles was attacked....

I have been extremely busy lately and have not been able to post. Last night when I came home I found that the other dogs had attacked Freckles and chewed her up very badly. Which ones were involved is not fully known. I do know of four that have evidence of the attack.

Kaiser --- She was covered in blood, but had no wounds.

Apache ---- Bloody and wounded herself.

Ginger --- A small spot of blood on her.

Ivory --- A small spot of blood and she is limping, though she has no visible wounds.


As for Freckles, the pictures speak for themselves. The wounds are clean now and not as bad looking as when i arrived home yesterday. I leave that picture to your imagination. The pictures fail to show how mangled her right ear is.












Freckles is sleeping right now in the bedroom alone. Before going to bed tonight the other dogs will be let in one by one. Any she objects to will spend te night in a crate. If any are stupid enough to act aggressive toward her may be taking a permanent sleep tomarrow. .....

Oh poor Freckles! Those wounds look frightening, and all too familiar to me. I wish we could know what happened; what possibly could have led to something like that? Hopefully, Freckles' wounds will heal up just fine, with your help!

I have no idea. Freckles stays to herself. She never bothered the other dogs and certainly did not deserve such a mauling.

One never knows when an event like this could occur, perhaps one got agitated momentarily and the domino effect occured....Glad you found her when you did.

From your description, it sounds like Apache was the one most involved. The others could have been instigators, involved to a lesser degree, in the way, or just trying to figure out what happened or get out of the way themselves. I don't guess you'll ever know for sure who started what. One of the others who wasn't wounded or bloody could have started something and then got out of the way.

Oh no..........this appears far worse than what happened to Inky some time ago. Poor Freckles. Do you think this is a similar situation??? Geez, when you opened the door it must've been like a horror movie with all that blood.
Trying to pinpoint the ringleader in this is like playing the board game CLUE.

I got to thinking. I basically assumed Apache was the one who injured Freckles, but I guess he could have been a victim too - attacked by the same dog that attacked Freckles or Freckles could have started the whole thing and ended up wishing she hadn't. This gets even more complicated the more you think about it.

I am so sorry about Freckles and the others too.

Have you come to any conclusions yet as to what may have caused this attack? Was any treats or bones left out? Or was it purely a dominance issue?

What precautiouns are you taking now?
