Well, I don't actually think my kitty's out to get me but,
So, I've had Kala for aoubt 3 years. She's a great cat and seems healthy and happy. For the first 2 years she was perfectly house broken. Then some stressors (moving, me being gone more) caused her to start peeing outside the litter box.
Long story short, I've tried everything and she won't stop. We've done tests for UTI's and she has none.
The interesting aspect of this problem is that she only pees on furniture that me and my partner are always using. For example she always pees on our bed and on the couch where we always sit. She may pee on the carpet every now and then, but mostly just in places where we want to be! and of course she never pees on HER favorite chair. Does she secretly hate us? She'll even pee on us when we're laying in bed!! but then purr right afterwards....
We've tried everything (using enzyme sprays, cleaning the litter box obsessively, even getting a new matress and couch!). We would never get rid of Kala, but I don't know how to stop this problem other than platic wrapping everything!
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi..you say there have been changes in her life? This could be the sole cause of her doing this. You might try changing the type of litter she uses, adding another box. You might also try a product called Feliway and see if that helps. You can get it at Petsmart or most petstores. I know it's frustrating...the main thing is to be patient with her and try not to let her know you are upset...this will only upset her more. You know I'm also guessing because she seems to target areas you share with your partner that maybe she has some jealousy issues??

Hmm, I've never thought of jealosy being the culprit...interesting but I dont think that's it since we have been together the whole time we've had her. As for being patient, thats good advice but this has been going on for over 2 years! (I dont know if I included that in my first posting) I'll look into the Feliway...thanks!

Have you tried buying new litter boxes, or trying new litter?
