Please help!

Hi fellow cat lovers! My name is joe and I'm sort of stuck in a unfortunate situation. You see, my Persian silver tabby "maui" has been pregnant for quite some time now. Just the other day, her 64th day of pregnancy, she began to go into labor. The only thing is, nothing was coming out. Only blood. I started to panic and rushed her to the local animal emergency center. What had happened was that her uterous was twisted and only half was getting the blood supply the unborn kittens needed to survive. The ultrasound provided an image of 2 heartbeats and 5 masses. I gave the ok to start surgery and hoped for the best. At this time I was ready for bed, it was like 1:30 A.M by now. I didn't go to bed untill 3:00 A.M because I was so worried about Maui, not to mention the $900 for surgey. I got a call from the emergency center at 6:00 A.M telling me Maui was alright but the kittens didn't make it. I was so upset. And now I have to worry about how I'm going to pay for this surgery and the aftercare she is going through right now. The only thing I could think of was to put it on my credit card for now and possibly collect donations. Thats why I'm posting this. Hopefully i can raise at least half the money I spent. It would really help out a lot. All my family and friends told me " It's just a cat, don't spend that kind of money on an animal!" but I didn't have the heart to just put it to sleep or something. It's like shes a part of my family. Well, anyways, If you all would be so kind as to help me raise funds for this surgery I would appreciate it sooooo much. JOe...I'm not sure if there are any board rules about soliciting donations..I'll leave that to the board administrators...but don't you think it's a bit much to expect?? Why not just pay your credit card off as you can??

Yes, we do have a policy....we do not allow solicitations of any kind on board.

If a person had a website up with legitimate information, veterinary clinic name and number in which contributors could check out, one would only need to post the website URL...otherwise, soliciting is not allowed.

Joe, ask your vet about possible payment arrangements, most are willing to work out an arrangement as long as you try your best to give them a sizeable downpayment on the services.

Never mind what your "friends" say about it's just a cat. It's not just a cat -- like you said she's a family member and she needs your love & support. You are doing the right thing. Never doubt it for a moment. We have all been down this road--my husband and I once spent his entire bonus on rescuing a stray who was poisoned and abused. We have never regretted it (although we do joke about it sometimes). This little guy, Jack, has turned out to be the most loving, affectionate cat of all. He's my best friend! Money comes & goes, but "the good that men do lives after them."

It's sad that the kittens died but it could actually be a blessing in the long run. My Miss Kitty lost 3 of her 4 kittens giving birth. There are so many unwanted animals on this planet. If you can give a good home to just one you've accomplished more than many people.

My prayer for you is that God sends you the means needed to take care of kitty. And while it is not possible for the members of the board to give you donations, we can all join in prayer for you and ask God to help you with this difficult situation.
