Re: cats claw biting -HELP PLEASE
Hi...well I've only had one experience with an infected claw...it was a stray we were feeding at work. When we took her into have her spayed we had the vet look at it and even though to us it didn't look like a terrible infection to us (she wasn't even limping at the time) the vet said it was pretty bad. They had to almost remove the entire claw. We had to give her oral antibiotics (Clavamox I believe, but I'm not sure) I'm not sure if topical antibiotics would reach the site of infection and do much good. I'd try to get a vet appointment sooner to avoid having the infection get worse and possibly absess. In the mean time I don't think it would hurt to soak it in a weak betadine solution...put some betadine in warm water..only enough to make the water about the color of weak tea is what I was told..and soak the foot for a bit...as long as the cat will let you hold it still Good luck...let us know how it does.
