Is there no end?! Angel's sick again

Post by k9Karen »

She started throwing up around 5 AM and had diarrhea mid-morning. I've been able to get her to drink some water and a little bit of chicken broth, but she's turned her nose up at that last offering of the broth. She's not lethargic and is acting mostly normal, but this isn't good. She's still on the Flagyl, which she threw up this morning. I am not a very happy camper right now.

k9Karen, my best thoughts are heading Angel's and your ways!! I wish they knew what was wrong; it's so hard to help when you don't know!

k9Karen...hope Angel is doing better today...it can be so frightening when you don't know what is wrong. Hopefully it is just a bug. Let us know how she is doing.

Right now, she seems better. She is very hungry and mad at me because I am only letting her have a small amount of rice in chicken broth. She didn't throw up again after early morning yesterday, but she had some really nasty diarrhea this morning. She's acting fine and is very hungry. Hopefully, this was just a small set-back and all will be OK from now on. At least I'm pretty sure it isn't something contagious - if it were, Allie should have gotten it by now. I do wish I know what it was though!

if she continues with no results with Flagy, you might ask about terramycin...old but good for gut problems,,,,but again not till flagyl has had a fair chance,, oh yeah and lactobacillus also

Thanks - She seemed to be doing so well, I think I may have pushed it too hard trying to get her back on her regular food - this set-back may have been caused by me. I gave her some 'people food' the night before - lean beef and a small amount of yellow squash - that may have done it! Lactobacillus is a good idea - I don't have any, so will need to go get some. She's still doing well today. No more vomiting or diarrhea. She's still hungry - I'm cooking beef stroganoff for dinner and I can tell she wants some. She's whining because I'm at the computer, not in the kitchen. (Yes, she's spoiled rotten!). Maybe a couple of noodles will make her think she got her 'treat' of people food.

So far, so good. I'm taking it VERY slow - she's had only rice, chicken broth, and Eukanuba Low Residue canned food (from my vet) until this morning. I mixed some of t he Low Residue with Nutro Natural (canned) chicken, rice, and oatmeal "sensitive stomach" formula and she loved it. Allie is very jealous that she isn't getting the 'good' food. I plan to mix in a little of her regular kibble (Nutro Natural Senior formula, which is chicken and rice based) with the other tomorrow. She finished up the Flagyl a couple of days ago - so hopefully all is well, and it will just take a little time for the "innards" to adjust.
