cats noses / sneezing / smoke

Post by NicoleK »

I was wondering if cats noses are supposed to be cold and wet or warm and dry???

I've noticed 2 of my kitties sneezing a few times over the last week or so and I'm wondering if they're starting to get a URI. I thought checking their nose and listening to their breathing might help me to see if there might be a problem.

Also, as a side note - we are in CA in the middle of the brush fires (we were evacuated for a while Saturday night) and the air quality has been horrible. The cats are all inside 100% of the time and the doors and windows have been completely shut since Friday, but our house still smells like smoke inside sometimes. I'm worried about this harming them in some way, but don't know if there is anything I could or should do???

i suspect there is really not a lot you can do as far as the smoke,,,its a guess but the sneezing probably is due to the smoke....as a side note cats will not eat if they cant smell the food so if they do get clogged up get some pediatric saline nasal drops and just put in a few drops to c=keep the nasal passages clear....and thoreticaly the only animals nose that give good clues to the insides are those of cows...
