My naughty, naughty kitty. She got in my yarn box and ATE some of my yarn. We had to pull some out of her yesterday...(from you know where) and now she won't stop chasing her tail. It makes her so queasy she is throwing up!!!
Any advice?
Sassy Cassie
First of all you NEVER EVER pull string or any foreign object from a cat's anal area.
Any string, yarn rubberbands etc can cut the insides of their intestines and cause a major infection or leakage inside. Give her some laxatone or other hairball paste now, to help it pass through AND Call your vet for advice, depending on how much she ate an xray may be necessary to determine if the yarn is stuck or causing a problem.
I am not sure why she is chasing her tail other than her anal area is probably very sore.
Do not take a chance have a vet examine her right away.
Please keep yarn and other foreign objects up high or locked away from kittens. They eat anything.

Re: Sassy Cassie
Thanks for making me feel worse than I already do, first time cat owners make mistakes you know.
After rereading your post and your kittenis vomiting, you need to get her to ER vet immediately, no time to waste.
Time is important here for treatment, go now.
I was trying to educate you, so you would know how to treat this and for your kittens health and safety. This is the most important thing so she does not get sick. The link below tells how intestines can become obstructed.

Good luck with your new kitty.

Please get your cat to the vet, string, yarn, rubber bands, tinsel, all can be dangerous for your cat. The strands can twist around intestines, tonsils, the tongue you name it and it can turn out to be quite a health hazard. If you can get some vegetable oil and mix it with her canned food, this may help pass anything still left inside, but a vet visit should be the first order of business for your cat!
